Bundarra chickens are a truly unique, slow-growing heritage breed, developed locally from Aussie Game, Light Sussex, Plymouth Rock and Australian Bresse. Bred specifically for our local conditions, these birds thrive on pasture, developing rich flavour, yellow fat, and strong bones for exceptional eating quality.

Raised on Bundarra’s regenerative farm in Barham, NSW, their magnificent chickens are 100% hormone-free and antibiotic-free. They spend their lives pecking, scratching, and foraging across open paddocks, moving every few days to fresh ground under the sun. This natural movement not only builds strong, healthy birds but also enriches our soil with feathers, manure, and straw as they go.

The Bundarra Chicken meat is deeply flavoursome with tender dark cuts and golden fat that keeps it moist when cooking —ideal for roasting or slow-cooking.

Weight: ~1.5-1.8kg

They are processed using traditional French butchery method and you can opt for feet and head to be intact or removed.

Please note that Christmas Orders will only be available from the week commencing Monday 15th December. Upon ordering, you can choose which date you wish your ham to be delivered or available for collection from our Daylesford store. Please place all Christmas orders separately. Any orders containing a Christmas products will be delivered as part of your Christmas Order. All Christmas Orders will close Sunday 7th December if not sold out prior.

*Our free-range poultry is frozen to ensure that they are kept in the best possible condition so please consider this when choosing the date for pick up or delivery. Larger turkeys may take 2-3 days to fully defrost. Once defrosted, they are not suitable to refreeze. Being completely free-range and raised on a farm, sizes can vary and as such the weights given are approximate.
